Shotblasters are designed to perform high speed, aggressive or a light etch surface preparation using a fine or coarse shot or aggregate. Shotblasting using a 240V or a 400V Shotblaster is a cost-effective method for removing paint, coating, dirt, grime and chemical contaminants from large areas for preparing surfaces and substrates in preparation for a number of surface types. Shotblasting is used as a preparation method prior to applying a self-leveling compound, epoxy floor coating or topping, polymer overlays, line marking or other type of coating.

Shot blasting provides very little airborne dust and requires a powerful dust extractor to keep the shot rotating through the drum. It is a good solution for sensitive areas including food preparation or processing plans, manufacturing facilities.

What shotblasters can’t do effectively is remove rubbery mastics or heavy elastomeric coatings, because the steel shot will just bounce off the surface.
